Sioux Center News; July 27, 1960

Funeral services for Mrs. Ed Berghorst, 46, who died July 12, 1960 were held 1 p.m. Friday at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church, Hull. Burial was in Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Survivors include the widower; four daughters, Mrs. Jack Kleinwolterink, Mrs. Loren Vander Well and Audrey and Arlene; five grandchildren; her father, Dries; and a brother, Siebron.


Sioux Center News; February 25, 1971

Funeral services were held Feb. 8 at the First Christian Reformed church, Hull, for Ed Berghorst who died at his home Feb. 5 following a heart attack.

Interment was in Hope Cemetery, Hull

He was married to Dena Eppinga Jan. 18, 1934. She died in 1960, and he was married to Hattie Leusink Jan. 10, 1961.

Surviving are the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Jack (Alyna) Kleinwolterink, Anna, Mrs. Leroy (Audrey) Jongetjes and Arlene; his father, Henry, of Bellflower, Calif.; four brothers, Bert, Hills, Minn., Frank, Grand Rapids, Mich., John, Sioux Falls, and Henry of Brandon; two sisters, Mrs. J. D. Stone, Bellflower, Calif., and Mrs. Walter Witchner, Peoria, Ill.; and ten grandchildren.

Hattie Berghorst, 94, of Hull died Thursday, December 20, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Funeral service was Monday at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. Interment was at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Mrs. Berghorst was born January 31, 1913, at Hull, the daughter of Henry and Kate (Vis) Leusink. She was raised at Hull. On January 10, 1961, she married Ed Berghorst in Hull, He died February 5, 1961, in Hull, In October of 2000, she became a resident of the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. She lived most of her life in the Hull and Sioux Center areas.

Survivors include three step-daughters, Anna, Audrey and Arlene; son-in-law, Jack; 12 step-grandchildren; 30 step-great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-greatgrandchildren; a sister, Jeanette, and a sister-in-law, Genevieve. She was also preceded in death by two step-daughters, Alyna and Anita; a son-in-law, Loren Vander Well; two grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters, Henrietta, Pete, Grace, Gerrit, William, Gertie, Catherine, Gerrit, and Johnnie in infancy.
