Jake D. Sneller passed away on June 14, 1968 in a Sioux City, Iowa hospital.
Jacob "Jake" was born May 8, 1900 in Sioux Center, Iowa. He was the son of Dries and Hattie (Van Grevenhof ) Sneller.
Jake married Janet Van Wyhe on January 9, 1934 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Survivors include the widow and four sons - Vernon of Sioux City Iowa, Marvin of Fargo North Dakota, and Lowell and Lynn, both of Sheldon Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Willie Roemmich, of Sutherland Iowa; a brother, Andrew, of Matlock Iowa and six grandchildren.

Arlene Marie Roemmich, the daughter of Jake and Janet (Van Wyne) Sneller, was born August 20, 1937 in rural O’Brien County near Sheldon, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Carmel, Iowa, where she received her early education at Platte #6 Country School through 6th grade. Her family then moved to farm near Sheldon, where she continued her education, graduating from Sheldon High School in 1954. Arlene attended Northwestern Jr. College and received her 2-year degree in Elementary Education in 1956. Later that year, Arlene began her teaching career in Sutherland, teaching the fourth-grade class for 7 years, where she met her future husband, Willie.
Arlene married Willie Oscar Roemmich on May 31, 1957 at the Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon, IA. After continuing to teach for a few years, she temporarily retired to stay home and raise her two children in Sutherland.
After her husband’s premature death in 1981, Arlene returned to school at Buena Vista College on the Spencer, IA campus where she went to night school and received her BA Degree in Elementary Education at the age of 50 years old. She then taught 3rd grade at Everly schools for 12 years until her retirement in 2000.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Sutherland. Arlene was also active in the community of Sutherland, helping with blood drives through Life Serve, visiting people at the Sutherland Care Center, was involved with the Prairie Heritage Center, made Hospice visits and enjoyed sewing and reading. She also enjoyed traveling and had made trips to Prince Edward Island, New Zealand, Europe, Nigeria, Canada and many states of the USA.
Arlene passed away at the Pearl Valley Rehab and Nursing Home in Sutherland, Iowa on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the age of 81.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie in 1981 and a son, Kevin in 1996.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Julie and her husband, Kevin of Des Moines, IA; four brothers: Vern (Pauline) Sneller of Sioux City, IA, Marv (Peggy) Sneller of Grayslake, IL, twins: Lynn Sneller ( Denise) of Orange City, IA and Lowell (Rhoda) Sneller of West Des Moines, IA; good friend, Paul Wittrock; other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Prairie Heritage Center, 4931 Yellow Ave. Peterson, IA 51047
Memorial Services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 31, at the United Methodist Church in Sutherland. Visitation will take place Thursday, May 30, at Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland, starting at 5:00 P.M., with family present from 6-8:00 P.M. Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland, Iowa
