Jennie Timmer, 72, of Doon, died Tuesday, February 18, in a hospital in Rock Rapids. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 21, in the First Congregational Church in Doon. The Rev. Tim Mason officiated. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery at Doon.
Mrs. Timmer, the former Jennie Vande Weerd, was born November 26, 1913, in Rock Valley and attended Rock Valley Community School. She married Bernard J. Timmer July 29, 1929, in Canton, S.D. They lived in Rock Valley and Ireton before moving to Doon in 1941. Mrs. Timmer was a member of the First Congregational Church.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Lindy (Martha) Kruger of George; five brothers, Ray of Payette, Idaho, Fred of Orange City, Lockie of Cassel, Calif., and Charles and Thomas; two sisters, Mrs. Arie (Delia) Boscaljon of Rock Rapids and Mrs. Dexter (Mary Alice) Brantzeg of Blackfoot, Idaho; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Bernard J. Timmer, 85, of Doon, Iowa died Wednesday, April 17, 1991 following a heart attack at the Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the First Congregational Church of Doon, Iowa. Rev. Ed Van Holland officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery of Doon. Visitation was held at the Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.
Bernard J. Timmer was born near Appledoorn, Netherlands on May 19, 1905. He was the son of William and Martha (Baak) Timmer. He came to America at an early age to the Rock Valley area.
Bernard married Jennie Van De Weerd on July 29, 1929 at Canton, South Dakota. Together they lived at Rock Valley and Ireton before moving to Doon in 1941. Bernard drove truck for a rendering service 37 years before his retirement. Jennie died February 18, 1986.
Surviving relatives include his daughter, Mrs. Lindy (Martha) Kruger of George, Iowa; two brothers, Peter and George, both of Rock Valley; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha; his wife, Jennie; his daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Paul Johnson; a great granddaughter, Melisa Johnson; and two infant great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Jacob and Sally Timmer, and his sister, Henrietta Van Maanen.
